Description: 

The South Centre will be holding a meeting to discuss the latest US proposal on Special and Differential Treatment (WT/GC/W/764), ‘Procedures to strengthen the negotiating function of the WTO’, wherein US has done 2 things:

1. Excluded S&D for a significant number of developing countries a priori, for current and future negotiations
2. Even for those that may avail of S&D, they could be subjected to sector-specific negotiations that could render them ineligible for S&D.

The South Centre will provide an analysis of which countries will avail of S&D and which will not. We will also invite some WTO Ambassadors and colleagues to speak on this issue.
